Mental Health Therapy for Athletes

Just as athletes dedicate time to training their bodies, training the mind is essential for peak performance. Yet, mental health in athletics often receives less attention and support. Unlocking your full potential in sports isn’t just about physical ability—it’s about developing a mental toolkit to build confidence, enhance focus, and cultivate the resilience needed to excel in competition and beyond.

Sports Performance Therapy

Sports and movement are deeply woven into the lives of many, offering joy, challenge, and a sense of accomplishment. Whether you’re a competitive athlete striving for excellence, someone who sets personal goals to push your limits, or an individual focused on staying active, sports performance therapy can play a key role in your journey.

Too often, mental health takes a backseat until challenges arise—such as recovering from an injury, facing performance anxiety, or feeling stuck in your progress. These moments reveal the importance of training not just your body but also your mind.

Through therapy, we’ll work together to build a personalized mental toolkit that empowers you to thrive as a confident and resilient athlete. This includes strategies to overcome performance anxiety, navigate the emotional and psychological impact of injuries, and unlock your full potential, taking your abilities to the next level.

Background in Athletics

As a former Division I athlete at Colorado State University, I have firsthand experience with the unique challenges that athletes face, both in their sport and in their daily lives. My journey was marked by moments of triumph, like achieving personal and team goals, but also by the setbacks of injuries and the sting of underperformance. These experiences gave me a profound appreciation for the highs and lows of athletic life—the joy of success, the heartbreak of falling short, and the resilience required to keep going. I believe every athlete deserves support to navigate these experiences.

Transitioning from the highly competitive environment of collegiate athletics to a more personal and self-directed approach to sports was one of the most unexpected challenges of my journey. Moving from the structured world of elite competition to creating my own goals required me to redefine my relationship with athletics. This transition, which is rarely discussed, is a significant and often emotional journey for many athletes as they move between different levels of competition or shift their focus to new goals.

Having experienced the full continuum of athletics—from an active childhood, through competitive and elite sports, to discovering new ways to challenge and fulfill myself—I have developed a unique perspective on the mental and emotional demands of being an athlete. These experiences have equipped me to support individuals at all stages of their athletic journey, whether they’re aiming to excel at the highest levels, recover from setbacks, or rediscover their passion for movement on their own terms.
